People respond to adrenaline rushes in different ways. For some, a sudden spike proves to be draining and leaves them exhausted for hours or even days. For others, the adrenaline rush is like a jolt of life that charges their battery and leaves them craving for more!
If you're of the second type, here are some extreme sports that can become your go-to adrenaline source!
SCUBA DIVING
"What?", you might be thinking. Scuba diving, an extreme sport? Some people might think diving is not exactly extreme, but think about it: you’re hundreds of feet underwater and the only reason you're alive is because you have a tank of oxygen on your back. And what type of life you might encounter while you're there is pretty unpredictable. Isn't it exciting?!
WATERFALL KAYAKING
Regular kayaking might be boring for you, so why not take it up a notch and jump off a waterfall with it? Some brave kayakers choose to push the limits of what a plastic boat can endure. Seeing how the nose slowly starts to dive as the water throws you off the edge is… stimulating, to say the least!
FREERIDE MTB
With freeriding in mountain biking, anything goes. Some terrains are practically unpredictable, every twist and turn can put you in danger. The only objective is to get to the bottom in one piece. Full body armor definitely required.
SKYDIVING
This one is a classic. Jumping off a plane into the open air, facing the ground, is definitely something 100% against human nature and preservation instinct! It’s an intense experience but also one that is exhilarating. Also, skydiving is very dangerous - if you parachute doesn't open, that's it. Many people find the experience well worth the risk though, as it is an incredible adrenaline rush.
CLIFF DIVING
It's not about jumping from the local big rock on the beach. Cliff diving from 10 to 20 meter tall cliffs is sca-ry! And it also requires experience - hitting the water from such a height is like jumping into concrete. And all you have is a basic swimsuit...
FREE CLIMBING
Like the freeride, free climbing is super dangerous and extreme. Wise people will at least wear a harness, to stand a chance against certain death. You also have to be incredibly enduring and trained to rely on your limbs for complete support. If you slip/fall, the only thing keeping you from tumbling down to the bottom is your safety rope and the clips anchored into the rock.
CAVE EXPLORING
It’s an extreme sport that comes with a lot of risks. For instance, if you run out of air while underwater, you could drown. Also, the water in caves can be cold, leading to hypothermia. Plus, there is always the risk of getting lost in the maze-like cave systems. However, many people find the experience to be well worth the risk. After all, it’s an opportunity to explore a whole new world that most people never get to see. Also, it’s an excellent workout, as you’ll be swimming through the water for long periods.
These are just a handfull of the many activities suitable for adrenaline junkies. If you’re looking for a thrill, you can find it in one or two of them. You will have an incredible time and get your heart pumping. Always put safety first and be aware of the risks beforehand!
