No matter how and where you live, sooner or later you meet a cute, outgoing surfer who becomes a dear friend. He takes you on surfing adventures or just to the beach and he never misses a wave. And just as quickly, there comes a holiday or birthday you have to get them a gift for. For all of you who are not really into surfing but want to give something special to that amazing surfer in your life - this list is for you!

 

How to choose the best gift for your surfer friend?

Before we continue with the most important - the list of ideas, we have to discuss a few more questions beforehand. 

When choosing a gift for a surfer, you have to ask yourself first of all: what kind of a gift would they like in relation to their age. Research shows that young people, mesmerized with the extreme sport, prefer surfing clothing or some kind of functional piece of surfing equipment. This has even more impact if the person is under or around 20 years old and has limited funds to invest in their hobby. Very good ideas for gifts for this surfer are gift cards for equipment, repair kits etc.

If you're searching for a gift for a person who’s in their twenties or even early thirties, they might prefer a book, some piece of furniture or fan merchandise related to their favorite sport or surfer. You can also look for or assemble a gift box for them filled with different things they may enjoy during their surfing adventures. In addition, if you can afford it, we’ll give you a hint - they’ll never be disappointed by an action camera as a gift.

Especially if you’re not that into surfing and you have little to none knowledge of the sport but you still want to make your favorite surfer happy.

You can get one that can be used on site at a favorite shop where they spend time and money for their equipment or an online one so they can get anything they want at any time and any place on Earth. 

Add a nice envelope with a personal note and voila - you’re settled and they’re happy!

 

Surf wax for better sliding

Rumor has it there is no surfer happier than the one that is gifted surf wax. Ask whoever you want and you will receive a unanimous answer: you can never have too much surf wax!

The idea behind the product is that it helps the board to become more slippery on the waves. Therefore - the wish of every surfer out there. 

Our advice - try to get to know what kind they use. This way you cannot go wrong - or get lost in all the different kinds out there that differentiate themselves according to temperature of water, aroma etc.

 

Towel - hoodie

Or an item otherwise known as a changing towel. This magical product is a surfer's best friend after they get out of the water and get to change. Before they manage to catch a cold, the towel - hoodie is there to keep them warm.

Pro tip: choose a nice, absorbing, but warm fabric. They will love you forever and think of you with thankfulness every time they change after surfing. If, you know, this is your final goal.

 

Ear plugs

You may not know this, but if you really care for the surfer in your life, you might want to give them ear plugs. 

They are a little bit different than ones you might use for sleep, at work and on a plane, for example. These ear plugs are designed to keep water out of your ears successfully so you will not have to deal with that annoying feeling in your ears after water gets in. An inconvenience a surfer deals with every day they are out there conquering the waves.

 

Skin care kit

You can put up one yourself or get an assembled one right in the store - it’s your choice! 

Just don’t forget - a surfers’ skin needs two main things: sun protection and good hydratation. As well as that - a good scrab can do wonders for a surfers’ body after hours in the wetsuit at a time. 

Add a little bottle of wetsuit shampoo for their equipment as well as lip balm for those sunny days so they can take care of their lips prone to sunburn and you’re all settled!

 

Leash - but not the one you’re thinking of!

A leash is the thing a surfer uses a lot - in fact, they are part of the obligatory equipment when one goes among the waves. They also snap and entangle and get ruined quite often.

As a rule, choose a leash as long as or a little bit longer than the board - and you have a great present with almost zero effort.

 

Surfboard repair kit

Every surfer wishes for it but not all can spare the finances to get it. This is why it is a perfect gift for surfers of all ages and interests. It helps a surfer take care of dings and dents as well as scratches.

One of the best gifts a surfer can wish for is gear. 

And yes, we understand this may not be your area of expertise, but hear us out. We are not talking about choosing sa new board or wetsuit for them, but an item for the following list:

• Reef booties: comfortable and an extremely valuable gift for those surfers in your life who love to surf around reef breaks.
• Hood: a surfing hood is a thing one enjoys in summer and absolutely loves in winter. This is why you will not go wrong with getting them one.
• Gloves: your favorite surfer’s hands deserve care - and you can give them the best one in the form of quality surfer gloves. There is a wide selection out there and you just have to look around to find the right size.
• Booties for that surfer in your life who dweebs into cold waters: even regular booties can be an amazing gift - especially if they enjoy winter surfing.

This is one of our more serious and hard to find items on our list. To be fair, it is also an item that is highly specific for surfers who go into waters that are known to be inhabited by worlds’ most dangerous predator: the shark.

Most pieces of shark protection resemble a wrist watch and get to protect the surfer via magnetic technology or ultrasound one depending on the manufacturer. One thing is sure - you’d better start looking for one of these early so you can get it in time for that special occasion you’re celebrating with your favorite surfer.

 

Tumblr for hot and cold drinks

One of the things a surfer needs before and after a surf is refreshments. Depending on the season they can be hot or cold, so an always welcomed gift is a tumblr they can keep their soup or refreshments in. The best thing - the can will keep the needed temperature so they can enjoy it when they need it in just the right way.
