Warsaw, the largest Polish city is the home of more than 1.7 million people and it is believed that during the workweek, the city's population reaches 2.4 million.   Situated on the Visla River the capital of Poland is a place with a fascinating history leading back to the early Middle Ages.  Legend has it that the name of the city comes from Vars and Sava a husband and wife who had a small house on the bank of the river. One night an uninvited guest knocked on their door asking for shelter and with no hesitation, the man and the woman have havered him. The next day their guest uncovered that he is actually Zhemomisal, the ruler of these lands. To thank them that they have saved him from the cold and wild animals, he named the place Warsaw.

First official historical information about the town date back to the 14th century.

Today Warsaw is the most important governmental, political and financial center of the country. The Visla River divides the city into two parts - east and west.  On the Eastside is situated the Prague neighborhood, the only place that was not destroyed during the Second World War. Today Prague is an attractive place for the young people of the city with its alternative clubs, small cinemas where are mostly projected independent movies, and numerous galleries.

The western part of the city is situated in the economic and administrative heart of Poland, the building of the Sejm (Polish Parliament) the Residence of the President, ministries, and the largest airport in the country named Frederic Chopin. Warsaw is also known as city-phoenix because it was destroyed to the ground seven times. After the end of World War II, the town has regained its original appearance by means of the photographs reserved by its citizens.

The photos were also used for the recovery of all historical sites - the Royal Palace, the park Lazhenki(Łazienki), the Baroque Castle Wilanów, the Warsaw University, Old Town, and many other important city sites. 

The city tour includes the obligatory walk along Boulevard Nowy świat Boulevard (New World) where there are many restaurants and cafes. The boulevard is a pedestrian zone during the summer so the tourists can be facilitated while visiting the city. Nowy świat leads directly to the Old Town where there are situated numerous of museums, cathedrals and chapels and historical places such as The Castle of the King and the City Tower. Old Town also offers a variety of restaurants where you can try traditional Polish cuisine.

Among the most interesting museums in the Polish capital is The National Historical Museum, the Warsaw Rising Museum Chopin, and Copernicus Museum. In Warsaw, there are 66 universities and over 30 theatres, which turned the city into one of the most important cultural centers. The city is famous for its green areas and beautiful baroque parks which are located throughout the capital Warsaw climate is temperate continental. Summer is hot but the winter can be very cold - temperatures can reach - 25-30 degrees.
