Probably some of you wished you knew a few things before skydiving for the very first time. We believe that it is a great sport and an adrenaline kick, so for all the folks who are never tried it but want to - we’ve collected some tips and general guidelines that should apply at most skydiving facilities.
Skydiving is pretty exciting and once you are up there in the sky you’ll feel the temperature change like opening the refrigerator door on a hot day.
Ultimately feels like flying and fills you up with great feelings of empowerment and accomplishment.
Let’s get back to our tips for skydiving and the weather.
The day before
Step 1: Check the weather.
Weather conditions that could affect skydiving include wind higher than 20 mph, cloudy skies, and temperature.
Step 2: Get your body right.
You don’t need to be physically fit to go skydiving, but it can be really helpful to do a few warm up exercises and stretches to get your body and muscles feeling loose. You should do it minutes before skydiving too, but it’sll help you more to do it also the day before.
It’s important your body is completely relaxed while in the air. Do some jumping jacks or run in place and simple stretches. If you have any medical conditions, consult with your physician before attempting any skydive.
Before telling you tips for the day of your first skydiving, here is something everybody needed to know before their first skydiving experience:
Safety is paramount.
Falling through the sky feels amazing! It’s terrifying yet exciting at the same time.
You’d absolutely want to get it recorded - some of the most awesome memories of your life, and you will not be able to look back on these photos without a smile
THE DAY of your first skydiving experience
Step 1: Eat NORMALLY and drink water.
Many people believe it's best not to eat, because they fear they will get sick while skydiving. Not true! You are less likely to feel nausea if you eat on your normal schedule.
Also, don't jump if you're hungover.
Step 2: Arrive on time and wear something comfortable.
On the day of your first big skydive the last thing you want is to arrive flustered and rushed. So plan more time for your arrival.
Wear loose comfortable clothing, such as a T-shirt, no tight pants and sneakers. It may feel a slight chilly up in the sky but when you leap out of the plane your adrenaline will no doubt kick in and the cold won’t affect you.
A jacket won’t be necessary!
Step 3: Relax, listen, clear your mind, and breathe.
Do your best to relax throughout the process. Just remember that when you step on the plane together with instructors, you're all SKYDIVERS nad they love to talk about the sport. So ask them about their first jump and why they love the sport. If you are still a bit worried, know that knowing how to breathe correctly is important when you’re up in the air. Stay calm, relax and listen to your instructor who shall no doubt walk you through this like a pro.
Set your mind while trying to relax - it’s easier said than done, but you’re paying for an unforgettable experience, so you should definitely enjoy every penny of it
Step 4: Smile and enjoy the moment once the plain door opens.
This is the moment you've been waiting for. Breathe, smile, and jump! You can only experience the magic of your first skydive once.
For those brief 60 seconds that you’re in free fall, it oddly feels that you’re suspended in mid-air because there’s nothing in your immediate surroundings to help properly gauge just how fast you’re truly falling. It almost feels like you’ve fallen in a gigantic pool of quicksand, filled only with high-speed wind and slowly sinking towards the ground (albeit at 176 feet per second!).
But don’t believe the hype. It can look and feel terrifying to peer through the airplane window to the ground below. But remember that skydiving is actually very safe.
Your senses come alive when you make a skydive. And it’s a feeling you won’t forget!
You will see the world from an unfamiliar point of view and you will smell the fresh air like never before. You will be several miles from familiar scents. In freefall, it's just pure fresh air.
And you will hear the loud rush of wind. It's pretty similar to static from blowing into a microphone, or the loud sound in your head the moment you splash into water.
Last but not least – you could experience an "air-gasm" after the parachute opens! And this is a very special kind of pleasure 😉
Enjoy your once-in-a-lifetime first skydiving experience!
